So I recently signed up with Virb (as in last night) and stayed up ALL night coding and designing my layout. I must say Virb is an impressive networking site. I also decided that it was the final nail in the coffin for Myspace so I posted a Rant/Farewell bulletin up to all of my friends, in hopes that they would leave the darkside.
Let me first say that Virb is COMPLETELY customizable, but not COMPLETELY(confused?). You can edit the HTML/CSS down to the bone EXCEPT for the HTML built inside of each module. (Modules are the different sections in the page which contain things like “Friends” or “Flickr Photos”). If you want to get rid of a certain part of that module, you have to call it out in CSS and tell that specific element to display: none; This was a pain but soon became habit as I hacked away through the night.
Here was my final result:
Fee free to click on the image or here to view my page (also add if me if you already have a virb account!!)
Also, feel free to read my rant on myspace’s bulletin:
SUBJECT: So is anyone else sick of myspace? (Farewell and Rant)
I am now officially done with myspace. I won’t be commenting on anyone else’s pages or posting up any blogs (not that I have in a while anyways but..)
I’m just sick and tired of peoples’ accounts being hacked and they post crap links on my page. No I do not want to check out the Gucci bag your girlfriend bought last night and No I don’t want a weather widget to run in my task bar.
Also, how about every other friend request is just straight up PORN!?!?! They don’t even try to hide it anymore. When “Check Out My Web Cam” wants to be my friend I just laugh. And half of the time the picture either isn’t there or it’s just of some girl’s ass.
So I am switching to Virb.com. It’s another social networking site that doesn’t have the bullshit ads and spam. It’s neat, clean, and does just as much as Myspace. The only downside is that not a lot of people are on it.
So this is my cry out to convert you myspacers to get with the program. Never again will you have to see 50,000 ads before you can even check your ONE comment which is spam.
A Virb page’s layout is also MORE customizable than myspace. Feel free to check out my Virb: http://www.virb.com/yellatducks
I know it’s going to be hard for some of you guys to let go of your beautiful myspace layouts with the transparent backgrounds and 50 gagillion animated gifs and “What kind of Kisser are you?” tests.
But maybe this post/rant was worth it, we’ll see.
Farewell my friends, I will see you on the other side (of the net).

There’s still nobody on Virb.com. All hope is lost. Oh well at least there is still Facebook…
