Pownce is the new black, well, it’s trying to be. And here’s what it needs to be #000.
- RIAA-Proof
Be able to stream music without risking the RIAA breathing down your neck. Thanks to Geoff L. and Joe L.

- Reply to Replies
Be able to reply to a reply. Simple as that. Sort of like Digg’s new comment system, accept good.

- Customizable Stylesheets
Be able to apply your own custom stylesheets to your public profile. Sort of like Virb.com’s customization features with modules and whatnot.
- Multiple Link/File Uploads
If I want to link 20 hilarious kitten youtube videos, I should be able to.

- Firefox Plugins
Get on the fly updates from Pownce, and be able to reply right back, all with your browser.
- Links and Files in Replies
Someone cries out for a file or link, and many respond with URLs that aren’t clickable. Come on, it’s simple, give me the same file/link posting options I have on my home page for replying.

- Better Feedback from the Developers
I’ve sent in multiple suggestions and bug-reports to Pownce’s support email, but have received no reply, not even an automated reply. I feel all alone out here..
- Better Friend Controls
I would love it if I could group my friends into groups on my page. Instead of seeing a random 20 people on the left, I ‘d like categories just like my IM client does. Andrew B. also notes that it is impossible to distinguish people with the same first and last initials when selecting a receiver for a private message. His suggestion was to add avatars to the dropdown menu so you could atleast have SOMEWHAT of an idea who you are sending private information.
- Mobile Support
This is a huge one for me. I love Twitter’s mobile support, and Facebook is even better. I’d love to send MMS to Pownce and have them show up as File Posts. Or get text messages about a reply to my comment, showing the reply. This would be key for me going 100% Pownce and leaving Twitter in the dust.
- Better Messaging Options
It’d be sweet when I’m sending a message, file, link, or event, that I could have a list of my friends available to send to. Then to be able to go down that list and click check-boxes beside their name. I know that “Sets” already exist, but that is just a very crippled idea. Here is my mock-up of what it should be:

Honorable Mentions:
- Edit Posts
Robin J. brings this suggestion to my attention. It is quite obvious that anything K-Rose touches will not let you edit after posting. Typo? Too bad, you have to look like an idiot! -
Don S. adds “I’d like to add that apparently anything that Kevin Rose touches in not searchable. Hopefully they will improve upon the user search.” -
It’d be nice if I was visiting someone else’s Pownce page, I could click a button to send them a private message.

I agree with every one of those. It seems you’ve went through a lot of time and effort to get those down!
Nicely done. One thing I’d like to suggest is a “Reply” option inside of their AIR app. Along with the option to select your browser of choice. I surf primarily in Firefox, but anything clicked in Pownce’s app opens a new window rather than a tab.
On a G4, new windows take forever to open!

I’d really like to see a published API and more RSS feeds.
Really good list.
